A dance track sampling U2 has finally, after a week-long struggle removed Popidol's Michelle from the UK Number 1 chart position.
The dance act, "LMC" were praised tonight by Radio 1 bosses for their brave efforts against their own personal safety.
Michelle was dislodged from the top spot at around 10 minutes to 6 GMT with a large paddle and a temporary winch attached to a crane.
She became stuck in the Number 1 position some three weeks ago and some feared she would never be removed unless the chart was dismantled entirely.
